How 5G may Change the VOIP Calling Forever

Lately there have been a lot of issues reported when making a VOIP call over traditional mobile internet (2G , 3G or even 4G). But the arrival of 5G technology may just pave the way for a better VOIP calling experience.

Much of the improved user experience will be the direct result of low latency , higher bandwidth and lower packet loss which allegedly is the assurance of the 5G network.

Better Conference Calls

With the adoption of the 5G network we are expected to have better conference calls experience as well. The ongoing pandemic has made us realize the importance of a faster connection on our devices.

WebRTC

An emerging global standard for real-time communications coupled with VOIP over 5G  is just going to be a game changer framework to build voice and video apps for VOIP communications. WebRTC has been around for years now

Radio Enhanced Architecture (REA) of 5G to the Rescue

There are primarily 3 5Gs architecture network categories

  1. Enhanced Mobile Broadband -  This category points to the devices which rely on higher and dynamic bandwidth and capacity to support the lightning speed of the 5G network. The supposedly use cases might be ultra-high definition video, virtual reality.
  2. Ultra-reliable Low Latency Communications -  The type of devices where the communication takes place in real time. Examples of such use cases can be VOIP, Video Conferencing.
  3. Massive Machine -Type Communications - The network category includes devices like IOT,real time sensors and other devices that rely on higher bandwidth and lower latency.

With 5G technology knocking on the door, we should expect much more reliable behavior of the devices mentioned above. Also , with the power of 5G we might see innovation in completely new bread of devices which are not in existence as we speak.

World going Mobile

It’s just mind blowing to comprehend how much we bank on our handheld devices to do the things we wouldn't have 10 years into the past. The world has changed so much and there has been no signs of slowing down. With 5G round the corner, ease VOIP communication is going to a higher standard never seen before.
